ISC-Cairo Implements Recycling Campaign
The International School of Choueifat- Cairo (ISC-Cairo) recently launched a major recycling campaign.
The recycling campaign, which has included contributions from throughout the school, was introduced by Mrs. Hanan Galal, ISC-Cairo’s Deputy Director, at the beginning of the 2013-14 Academic Year. Recycling stations were placed strategically around the school separating the garbage into paper, plastic, food waste, and other trash. The campaign was also reinforced as a theme in art classes for students in grades 2-8. Art teachers encouraged the students to produce posters using recyclable material as their art class project in order to raise awareness on the advantages of recycling. SLO® prefects also demonstrated to younger students how to use the recycle bins, and during the SLO® period, plastic bottles were gathered and laid out to create the school logo.
In recognition of the school’s successful implementation of the recycling campaign, 38 ISC-Cairo students in grades 8 to 12 participated in a 3-day United Nations conference in the port city of Sharm- El- Sheikh, Egypt. From October 10 to 14, 2013, the ISC-Cairo students attended a presentation about recycling and the environment and presented their school project to other delegates.
Having built a successful campaign that has received broad recognition, the entire ISC-Cairo community is committed to continuing the campaign through the end of the current academic year and beyond.
